DESCRIPTION:Who benefits from these multilateral treaties?\nLecture and discussion on TPP (Trans Pacific Partnership)\, RCEP (Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership) and the trade and investment treaty agenda. \nFeatured speakers:\nDr. Jomo Kwame Sundaram (leading voice in the UN and a researcher on the TPPA)\,\nSanya Reid Smith (Senior Researcher Third World Network Malaysia)\,\nBarry Coates (It’s Our Future)\,\nGreg Rzesniowiecki (TPP Free Wellington/TPP Action)\, \nDr. Sundaram is a prominent Malaysian economist\, who has served as the United Nations Assistant Secretary-General for Economic Development in the Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) from 2005 until 2012. He was founder chair of International Development Economics Associates (IDEAs)\, and sat on the Board of the United Nations Research Institute For Social Development (UNRISD)\, Geneva. In 2007\, he was awarded the Wassily Leontief Prize for Advancing the Frontiers of Economic Thought. \nA prominent critic of the Trans Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA)\, Dr. Sundaram has co-authored a report\, published by the Global Development and Environment Institute at Tufts University\, entitled Trading Down: Unemployment\, Inequality and Other Risks of the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement
