Today citizens group Show Us Ya Text descended on Tim Groser’s electorate office in New Lynn with giant squeegees in an effort to clear up the murky TPPA negotiations. Spokesperson Lizzie Sullivan said that “as New Zealand’s lead negotiator of the TPPA we’re helping Tim Groser take the first step to towards transparency by cleaning his office’s windows”.

The event organisers are concerned with how the government have handled the TPPA negotiations. To date the negotiations have occurred in total secrecy with few details being released to the public.

“Its a simple issue, democracy doesn’t happen behind closed doors. Democracy relies on robust debate, and the best way to have that debate is by having the text out in the open.” said Sullivan

Last week Show Us Ya Text issued a demand that the government to release the TPPA by August 31st at High Noon. If not released the group calls for a non-violent search and seizure to liberate the TPPA documents on September 15, 2015.

“If the government doesn’t release the text, as concerned citizens we will be left with no other option but to go and get it ourselves. Transparency is a cornerstone of democracy and secret negotiations are unacceptable in New Zealand” said Sullivan.

So show us ya text.
