The New Zealand United States Council has welcomed the appointment of Hon. Tim Groser as the next New Zealand Ambassador to the USA.
NZUS Council Chairman Hon. Simon Power QSO said “Minister Groser has been an exceptional Trade Minister. He played a major role in achieving a successful conclusion to the Trans Pacific Partnership negotiations. This marks a major milestone in New Zealand’s relationship with the USA as it will be, in due course, the first time that the two countries have entered into a free trade agreement. Minister Groser’s appointment to the role of Ambassador will enable him to apply his vast trade policy experience and persuasive skills to the task of encouraging the US Congress to approve the TPP outcome to the benefit of both our economies”.
“The NZ-US Council also wishes to acknowledge the terrific contribution of the outgoing Ambassador, Rt Hon Mike Moore. Under his watch over the last five and a half years the NZ-US relationship has continued to improve and it is now in excellent shape. The NZ-US relationship continues to be very well served by a succession of highly credentialed and influential Ambassadors”, said Simon Power.
