The government has announced a ‘refresh’ of its trade policy. However, it looks more like a sticking plaster on the current failed policy when invasive surgery is required. Agreements like the proposed Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA) become deeply concerning to many New Zealanders as they increasingly intrude into areas of sovereign decision-making. The rights of government to regulate in the public interest are being overridden. A majority of New Zealanders appose the TPPA.I
