Auckland City Police thank all the volunteers and partner agencies for their contributions to another successful operation where more than 22,000 fans enjoyed an entertaining Cricket World Cup match between South Africa and Pakistan at Eden Park.

It was another busy day for Police who also deployed to the Trans Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA) protest down Queen Street that involved more than 5,000 demonstrators.

Auckland City Police Operational Commander, Inspector Peter Gibson, was pleased with how smoothly both operations went.
“Obviously our own Police staff were deployed at both events but special mention must be made of the 100 volunteer Wardens & Community Patrols who accompanied and supported our offocers during the day.

“These people exemplify the value of communities coming together to improve their city.”

There were no arrests or incidents at either operation and a comparatively small number of people, 18, were removed from Eden Park during the match that was won by Pakistan.

Eden Park will host another two Cricket World Cup matches.
